The young Jags improve their record this week to 3-2, as they defeated a very aggressive Churchill Bulldog team 19-7.
After a disappointing loss in the Varsity game Friday night, the young Jags awaited anxiously to even the score, so to speak, with the young Bulldogs.
So, by the time the clock struck 5:32 pm, Monday evening; the Jags had taken a surprising 6-0 lead, when Troy Anderson returned the opening kickoff 72 yards to pay-dirt. While playing stingy defense throughout the night, led by the secondary trio of Troy Anderson, Lenny Milton-Cole, and Sheldon Trotman, the Jags managed to shut down a very complex, high scoring offense of the Bulldogs.
The Jags second TD of the night was scored once again by Troy Anderson, on a beautifully placed 30 yard pass, along the left sideline by QB Austin Steele.
With the defense playing as hungry as ever, the Jags came up big, stopping Churchill’s 2 minute offense right before the first half. Thus, allowing the Jags offense to get back on the field right before the half. With great field position on the Northwest 25 yd line, the offensive line of Mezzaros, Offor, Blankenship, Calderon, and Borylos, just manhandled the Bulldog’s defensive line; allowing for the third and final touchdown of the night, again by Troy Anderson.
The second half was an outright war, played with the mentality of “bend, but don’t break” by both teams. This making the second half very physical, as well as exciting. Neither team scored in the second half.
Great job Jags!
Now let’s get ready to cap off the Homecoming week by defeating a extremely athletic Gaithersburg team!!!!!!
